As a private provider we have a very strong reputation for teaching fine furniture making and design. Based predominately in our rural workshop an excellent opportunity has arisen for a furniture tutor to join our expanding team.

Tutor in Fine Furniture Making

Salary: To be negotiated

Location: Lydeard St Lawrence, Nr Taunton, Somerset

Terms: Permanent contract, 2 to 5 days a week

Ideally with experience of teaching adult learners, you will need to be creative, inspirational, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. To maintain our reputation for teaching exceptional making skills you must have a proven track record within the field of fine furniture making, and a commitment to incorporating commercial practice and ‘intelligent making’ into the education of budding furniture designer/makers.

You need to be proficient in the practical and theoretical skills of furniture making, and to be capable of teaching learners of varying abilities and backgrounds, undertaking a variety of diverse projects. You will also need to be willing to teach within a quality framework and to plan and structure courses and individual lessons to meet the needs of our students.

Good organisational skills are required, and an appropriate teaching qualification is desirable or a willingness to undertake a teaching course if required.
